Notes provides a lightweight, fully offline note-taking environment powered by FlatNotes. All notes are written in Markdown and stored locally on your N.O.M.A.D. server — nothing is synced to any external service, and your notes remain available whether or not you have internet access.

How to access

Go to Settings → Apps and open Notes from the installed apps list.

Features

Markdown support

Write notes using standard Markdown syntax — headings, lists, bold and italic text, code blocks, and more.

Local storage

Notes are stored on your server, not in the cloud. They are available offline and never leave your hardware.

Search

Search across all your notes to quickly find what you’re looking for.

Simple and fast

No accounts, no sync setup, no configuration required — open it and start writing.

Use cases

  • Field notes — Record observations, measurements, and conditions during fieldwork or site visits where connectivity is unreliable.
  • Journaling — Maintain a personal log or daily journal stored entirely on your own hardware.
  • Reference notes — Keep quick-reference checklists, procedures, or lookup tables that you return to often.
  • Emergency planning — Write out emergency contacts, rally points, medical information, and action plans for offline access.
  • Research and study — Take notes alongside the Information Library or Education Platform.
Use Markdown headings and lists to keep long notes organized. A table of contents at the top of a note can make longer documents much easier to navigate.

Privacy

Notes are stored locally on your N.O.M.A.D. server. They are not sent to any external service. N.O.M.A.D. has no built-in telemetry, so your note content stays on your hardware.
