The Information Library gives you offline access to Wikipedia and a wide range of reference content — medical guides, survival information, how-to resources, and classic literature. It is powered by Kiwix, which stores compressed website archives in the ZIM file format so they can be read without an internet connection.

What’s included

The content you have available depends on what you downloaded during Easy Setup or through the Content Explorer. Available content includes:
  • Full Wikipedia — millions of articles in your chosen language
  • Medical references — health guides and first aid information
  • How-to guides and survival information — practical skills and preparedness content
  • Project Gutenberg ebooks — thousands of classic books in the public domain

How to access

Click Information Library from the Command Center home screen, or go to Settings → Apps and open it from there. This opens the Kiwix interface where you can browse and search all installed content.

How to add content

1

Open the Content Explorer

Go to Settings → Content Explorer (or navigate to /settings/zim/remote-explorer).
2

Browse available content

The Content Explorer shows all available ZIM packages. You can browse by category or search for specific topics.
3

Select and download

Click Download on any package you want to add. Downloads run in the background — you can continue using other features while they complete.
4

Access the new content

Once the download finishes, the new content is immediately available in the Information Library.

Content tiers

When selecting content through Easy Setup or the Content Explorer, collections are organized into three tiers:
TierDescription
EssentialCore content for the category — the smallest download, covering the most critical references
StandardEssential content plus additional useful materials
ComprehensiveEverything available for the category — the largest download
Start with Essential tiers to get the most important references quickly, then add Standard or Comprehensive tiers later as your storage allows.

ZIM file format

ZIM is an open file format designed for offline content archives. It compresses entire websites — including text, images, and navigation — into a single file that Kiwix can read without internet access. N.O.M.A.D. manages ZIM files for you through the Content Explorer and Content Manager, so you don’t need to work with the files directly.
ZIM files can be large. Full Wikipedia is approximately 95GB. Plan your storage before downloading large packages.

Wikipedia content selector

N.O.M.A.D. includes a dedicated Wikipedia content management tool for selecting which Wikipedia package is active.
1

Open the Content Explorer

Go to Settings → Content Explorer.
2

Browse Wikipedia packages

Wikipedia packages are available in multiple languages and sizes. Each package is listed with its language and approximate download size.
3

Select a package

Click Download on the Wikipedia package you want.
Only one Wikipedia package can be active at a time. Selecting a different Wikipedia package replaces the previously downloaded version.

Managing installed content

To view, manage, or remove installed ZIM content, go to Settings → Content Manager. From there you can see all installed packages, check file sizes, and delete content you no longer need to free up storage space.

Content Manager

View and manage all installed ZIM content packages.

Easy Setup

Download curated content collections during initial setup.
